F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!

When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!

F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!

F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....thats the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...

An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah thats right!!!)

At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.

Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!

The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.

TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point

During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.

Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.

A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best 20grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

Running MetaStock in Windows Vista

For those who don't know about MetaStock - it is a technical chart analysis tool / software. See more details about it here - External Link to Equis website.

I was running my Toshiba M700 with Windows XP - for the fact that software was not supported by Window Vista. Equis has the fix for the same in the form of version 10.1. However - this was not a best fix for me for the reason that the new version was more than my budget.

Well, a tip from one of the group members made me do this dive. Vista SP1 is the key and the answer. Yes install Vista and apply the Vista SP1 on top of it. And just install the MetaStock. It works like charm now.

Power of small Savings

We were doing some clean ups in the home. And I started collating the coins I have been collecting for months.

My friends and myself decided to count it and make it as cash for my daily usage. We counted and counted and finally arrived at the value.

It is Almost AED. 1200 (US$ 328). Wow... thas a massive amount for me at this point of month / year.

Thanks for all those who planted the idea of small savings in my mind :)

Windows Vista in my Laptop

Finally managed to go back to Windows Vista now.

I was still working with XP - only for the reason that MetaStock was not supported by Vista. Now it has started working. I will post another entry about that soon ;)

All I can say is, I am a happy user with Vista.

Here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon.

I got this as a FWD mail. So, please adjust with the information

Temperature: Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your gallon is not exactly a gallon.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

Fuel Filing Speed: When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

When to refill: One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Station is just filled up: Another reminder. If there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Yes. MSN Spaces blog is my choice. There are lots in the list for blogging.

I have used the Blogger before. Its too good to use. But the offline blogging utility and some other features of MSN spaces has made me leave blogger.

But the sweet integration with the MSN paces has made me choose this.

Recently I have started to post some more blog. Hope I can get going with this without any failure now ;)

Yes, I work in Dubai, and my weekends are Friday & Saturday. I should say I am lucky because, I atleast get 2 days off as opposed to only 1 or 1.5 days for others...

My Weekend is over now. Tomorrow is my start of next week.

But, that is not all, I will be on vacation (nearly 2 weeks) from tomorrow. I am going for my friend's wedding. I will try to post some messages from there....
